East West launches Candela Travellers

Changing the way you travel, for good.

In recent years, we are delighted to see how much more philanthropic and environmentally conscious our trade partners and customers have become. And as awareness grows, East West started seriously considering how we can do our part to fulfill our own corporate social responsibility objectives.

With the opening of this year's Virtuoso Travel Mart, East West has launched its social enterprise, Candela Travellers, an initiative for responsible travel that aims to address global concerns and improve community well-being through eco and voluntourism. With its pilot community projects in Singapore, Bintan (Indonesia), Sabah (Malaysia), Cambodia, Sikkim & Darjeeling (India), we hope to bring about an awareness of programs aimed at protecting wildlife and nature, improving general health, education, and provide sustainable growth and income for communities. 

Candela Travellers aims to combine the joys of travel with the lasting impact of social change. This is made possible with focused work with communities on a long-term basis. Wwe plan to make this accessible to all, through the twin activities of volunteering and travel and at different comfort levels.

And as part of East West initiative, from now onwards, 1% of all confirmed bookings shall proceed to Candela Travellers fund. Individual guests, corporate clients as well as travel agents can also opt to drop in additional amount for the Candela Fund. For all donations and volunteer work with communities, we ensure all participants and partners are kept up to date with progress of each project.
